What drives you to be part of the Robin Food Coalition?
The transition of the food system requires changes in many areas simultaneously. Therefore, it is valuable to be part of a coalition where everyone has their own role but works in cohesion. That is exactly what we can do within the Robin Food Coalition.
How do you believe food and agriculture can make a positive contribution to people and nature, and what role do you play in that?
We humans are part of nature, and food is perhaps the most intimate relationship we have with it. However, the direct connection between where you live and what you eat has largely disappeared over the past few decades. At Boerschappen, we want to restore that relationship. We want people to enjoy the tastiest seasonal food every day, sourced from farmers you can shake hands with and who strengthen the direct relationship between food and nature.
How can we support you in that role?
In the "Natural Capital" project, in which we collaborate, we want to demonstrate that farmers who work with nature actually contribute to improving biodiversity, soil life, water usage, and CO₂ emissions. With the data you collect at the farm level, we can make this added value visible and monetize it throughout the rest of the chain.
